TRAINING SERVICE
Having plans and money in place before disaster strikes saves lives, reduces suffering and protects livelihoods and economies, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable communities.
That’s why the Centre for Disaster Protection provides free, quality-driven disaster risk financing (DRF) training to national governments, multilateral organisations, non-governmental organisations, professional bodies and donors. The Centre’s training is impartial, unbiased by personal or organisational interests.
Our training draws on evidence and research and reflects our views on what makes good DRF based on our 7 keys to unlock effective DRF.

The Centre has two training approaches to choose from:
1. CORE TRAINING
This interactive training has an emphasis on knowledge exchange and genuine skills transfer and focuses on putting good DRF into practice. Content is based on the expertise and experience of our multi-disciplinary team and on learning from our strategic partners.
2. BESPOKE TRAINING
We can develop customised training to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
Both approaches are currently delivered online in real-time. As the covid-19 situation improves we will resume face to face delivery, whilst continuing to develop our online offer.
The Centre’s training service is part of our wider capacity building programme to support high risk, vulnerable countries to manage risks ‒ moving from reaction to readiness – because we believe that disasters should not be surprises.
