Cristina Stefan
Cristina has experience in advising humanitarian organisations, multilateral development banks, and emerging economies on the design of alternative risk transfer products (CAT Bonds, ILS solutions, parametric reinsurance, swaps) and building risk finance solutions aimed at closing the financing gap for disaster response. She has expertise in pandemic risk finance solutions (insurance, contingent loans, at-risk procurement of medical countermeasures).
She was instrumental in developing a pandemic fear index which helps define payout triggers for novel parametric insurance products covering business interruption in the event of an epidemic catastrophe. She holds a master’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Economics in Bucharest and a professional degree in Actuarial Science from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK.
