Amar is a key member of the Centre’s Advisory function, where he provides expert advice, quality assurance, and training to governments, development and humanitarian organisations, and donors. His work focuses on enhancing disaster risk financing and social protection strategies through analytics and innovative solutions.
With a background spanning both private and public sectors, Amar brings extensive experience in risk management, social policy, climate modelling and insurance solvency. He is adept at assessing and quantifying risks associated with natural disasters and climate change, ensuring that organisations are well-prepared for various scenarios.
A proud New Zealander, Amar has a special interest in disaster protection in the Pacific region. His commitment to improving disaster resilience in this vulnerable area underscores his dedication to supporting communities and organisations in need.
Amar holds a Master's degree in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
